Semiotics are also called semiotic studies the definition of semiotic is The theory and study of signs and symbols, especially as elements of language or other systems of communication, and comprising semantics, syntactics, and pragmatics.Semiotics are signification and communication,sings as symbols.

the study of signs,symbols and signification how meaning is created,not what it is.

beginning with the smallest unit of meaning and proceeding towards the larger and more.

Exsampels of some meanings from the web :

Sign: the smallest unit of meaning, anything that can be used to communicate.

Symbolic (arbitrary) signs: signs where the relation between signifier and signified is purely conventional and culturally specific.

Iconic signs: signs where the signifier resembles the signified.

Indexical Signs: signs where the signifier is caused by the signified.

Denotation: the most basic or literal meaning of a sign

 These are just a couple of  brief definitions of some semiotic terms.

Semiotics are  forms of expressions and contents, signs like movements of fingers,hands,arms,legs and eyes.In photography take a look a a image and ask your self
