Sam Taylor Wood

Sam Taylor Wood is one of the greatest artists,she was born in 1967 and she graduated at the Goldsmith’s College, London in 1990.The above images are from the series named bram stoker,s chair ,these images were captured in 2005. Wood’s series Bram Stoker’s Chair is called like this  because of the chair in question, which magically supports her contortions in each photograph,is the shadow,the series are Self Portrait photographs of Sam-Talyor wood.

Sam taylor Wood says "I have to hide my face in the pictures.It is a combination of hiding the grimacing pain because I think that destroys the photograph but it is also because I don't think you need to see my face." She said the pain was necessary as the photographs were a response to her fight against cancer. In 1997 she was diagnosed with colon cancer just weeks after giving birth to her first child Angelica".

In  the photographs she used many of the ropes,which were attached to the ceiling,the ropes were digitally removed from the pictures after , but these ropes left rope burns on her body such as on her arms, chest and  legs.

Sam Taylor Wood currently lives and works in London.
